Going to stay inside until the gunmen are apprehended. Sometimes living near a major monument is kind of scary.

You might miss out on watching Jean Reno and Robert DeNiro chase them down then!

Stay safe. it's unlikely there will be anymore issues today but doesn't hurt to be cautious.

Thanks. The attack was pretty targeted, and they were fleeing in a direction away from my apartment so it's definitely a small risk. My girlfriend and I have postponed our plans until tomorrow and have just gone out to buy some groceries for today. Hopefully these guys are caught soon.

The Charlie Hebdo hit looks like a classic hit and fade insurgency style attack, so I'd expect little more to occur for some time. Disappear, then plan and organize the next one sort of thing, sad to say.

Yeah, pretty messed up. If the gunmen weren't still at large we would be going out, but they've closed most of the stuff we were planning to visit today anyways.

The terrorists were really angry at the journalists so I think it is unlikely that they would make any random attack against general public. But some other critics against radicalism should have a real good reason of being afraid today.

But French seem to be very good at not withstanding oppression or threats so I would guess that critics aren't still going to stay silent.

I hope people don't stay silent. Giving in to these sorts of fear tactics is abhorrent and exactly what they want, despite how terrible the acts they committed were.

Given that the perpetrators appeared to be French-raised or at least quite familiar generally, it makes one wonder how similar these individuals will be operationally to Baader-Meinhof or more typical middle-eastern terror. Long term residency in a victim state or more Western society does seem to color the style of operation.

Who knows. I just hope they're caught.

I agree. Terrorism works only if people start believing that that they should be afraid.
